Jiao Wei IDUKM
Hello everyone, my name is Jiao Wei, and I'm going to share my one-week experience at UKM with you.
1. Beautiful Environment:
As a top-tier institution, UKM isn't the kind of ultra-modern university. Instead, it's nestled amidst the hills with lush greenery all around. That was my first impression upon entering UKM. Upon arrival, my first task was to arrange accommodation. I successfully secured a place at KIZ. Although the dormitory was a bit basic, it had all the necessities and was reasonably priced. After settling in, we explored the campus, and one interesting thing was the presence of monkeys roaming around. They seemed unbothered by humans, but I preferred to keep my distance. However, what I loved the most was the abundant greenery. I can't quite describe how it feels to live in such an environment, but it's incredibly tranquil and close to nature. I really enjoyed it.
2. Welcoming People at UKM:
Three days after settling in was the student registration day. Although I had already paid my tuition fees, I hadn't received the receipt from the bank, which I needed to complete my forms. I was quite anxious about it. So, I approached the staff for assistance. Despite my confusion about the process, they were very helpful and resolved the issue promptly, considering I was a new student. I was truly grateful for their help. Even when I later approached professors with questions, they were very eager to assist and didn't mind my poor English skills. Later on, I met my roommate, who happened to be from the same country as me. We quickly became good friends, and his proficiency in English was a great help to me.
That's how I spent my first week at UKM – short but joyful.
